How to play French Roulette

The fundamental rules of live French roulette are the same as European or American roulette. You simply place your stake on the roulette table and the dealer will spin the wheel. If the ball lands on your chosen number, you’re a winner. Just bear in mind that the roulette table might come with French translations for even/odd *(pair/impair)* and 1-18/19-36 *(manque/passe).*

What’s unique about French Roulette odds and payout?

In contrast to American and European roulette, French roulette introduces two distinctive rules.

  1. La Partage Rule:

    • Applies exclusively to even money bets.

    • When the ball lands on 0, the dealer divides all even money wagers. Half of each stake goes to the house, while the other half is returned to the player.

    • Reducing the house edge for even money bets to just 1.35%, it serves as a form of insurance in case of a loss.

  2. En Prison Rule:

    • A variation of La Partage.

    • When the ball lands on 0, the dealer marks all even money bets as En Prison, keeping the bet in place for the next spin.

    • If the subsequent spin results in a win, the player receives their stake back.

    • If the ball lands on 0 again, the bet remains En Prison for yet another spin, providing a chance for a full refund on the initial losing bet.
